Saturday, November 14, 2009,  8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

at The Distillery, 416 West Liberty Street

It is expected that judging will occur in two flights, morning and afternoon, with Best of Show following immediately after the second flight.  Lunch is provided to volunteers.

Head Judge:  Chris Stovall

Let Chris or Steve know if interested in judging the competition.  All of our BJCP Study Group Judge Apprentices and current judges are highly encouraged to participate.  We will hold a preliminary round as needed the weekend prior to the main event.  Please see Chris for a Judge Information Form at the next meeting or contact him (912-667-9733).

Out of Town Judges:  We need you too!  Please contact Chris (912-667-9733) to receive a Judge Information Form.

It is expected that the competition will take place all on Saturday with a 8:30 a.m. session and a 12:30 session.  Lunch for judges and stewards will be provided.  Judges & stewards should arrive no later than 8:00 a.m.  All entries must be turned in by the deadline.  No day-of entries accepted.

BOS round will occur after category rounds are completed and may not take place on Saturday.

The annual Blues & BBQ event at the Roundhouse, located near downtown & across the street from The Distillery, will take place both Friday and Saturday nights, at which a number of club members will be volunteer servers in the Beer Garden.  As a special perk for judges, a limited number of complimentary guest passes are available on a first-come first-served basis for out-of-town judges who would like to attend for either Friday or Saturday night, so let us know early and we’ll send a comp ticket.  It’s a great time to see some of the best blues bands in the Country, enjoy some good bar-b-que and nice selection of craft brews!  We will also plan to hold an informal award ceremony downstairs at The Distillery after judging is completed.

Also, in lieu of staying in a hotel, arrangements to stay at a beach house on Tybee Island can also be made with an SBL member.  Let Chris or Steve know if interested.

The 2009 Bay Street Bash is an AHA sanctioned competition open to all homebrewers.  No professional or commercial entries are accepted.  All Beer and Cider categories accepted (Styles 1-23, 27-28).  We hold a separate Mead-only Competition in February, so please plan to enter meads then.  Categories & Subcategories may be combined for judging, at the competition organizer’s discretion.  Beers will be judged according to the subcategories in which they were submitted using the 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines.

Ribbons will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of each judged category.  A  “Best of Show” round will follow with all category winners competing against each other for additional ribbons and prizes.  THE WINNING BEST OF SHOW BEER WILL BE “GUEST-BREWED” AT MOON RIVER BREWING COMPANY, TO BE SERVED ON TAP AT THE BREW PUB.
