In 1979, the American Homebrewers Association announced that the first Saturday of May would be National Homebrewing Day. In 1988, the United States Congress agreed, and officially recognized it as an official government holiday, uh. . . well something like that. National Homebrewing Day is now celebrated at hundreds of “brew sites” around the world and includes thousands of brewers and beer enthusiasts working together to bring attention to homebrewing.
In celebration, we’ll have our annual party on Saturday May 3 starting at 10 a.m. Brewers will be brewing our annual Club’s Group Brew, an Amber Ale with limited hops (but anything else!). Bring your equipment over to the house or, if you can’t bring it, brew something at your place over the weekend. If you’re not brewing, that’s great too. Plan to come over and enjoy some beer, food, and company. Alternative Big Brew recipes are online at the AHA website.
