In 1979, the American Homebrewers Association announced that the first Saturday of May would be National Homebrewing Day. In 1988, the United States Congress agreed, and officially recognized it as an official government holiday, uh. . . well something like that. National Homebrewing Day is now celebrated at hundreds of “brew sites” around the world and includes thousands of brewers and beer enthusiasts working together to bring attention to homebrewing.
In celebration, we’ll have our annual party on Saturday May 2 starting at 10 a.m. Brewers will be brewing our annual Club’s Group Brew, a First Wort Hop Experiment. Bring your equipment over to the house or, if you can’t bring it, brew something at your place over the weekend. If you’re not brewing, that’s great too. Plan to come over and enjoy some beer, food, and company. Alternative Big Brew recipes are online at the AHA website.

Big Brew 2009
When: Saturday, May 2
Brewers starting @ 10 a.m.
Where: Steve Matthews’ house
21 Cedar View Drive
Savannah, GA 31410
897-3448
Directions: In brief, come through Thunderbolt to Whitemarsh Island on hwy 80 (the road to the beach) and turn right at Johhny Mercer Blvd. Just past the first light turn right immediately across from the YMCA onto Cedar View Drive, Commodore Point West. We're at 21, a two story yellow house on the left all the way down and near the end of the street. I'll try to put out a sign, but it's a dead end therefore you can't get lost on Cedar View.
If you want to bring a covered dish, snacks, etc. feel free to do so. I will have some eats and I have a gas grill available. You might bring a lawn chair, not sure if I have enough to go around depending on how many come. I'll be setting up at 9 - 10:00 A for any who want to start early. My place is on the marsh and some of my Yankee visitors asked if I had any snakes or gators. I said no, the skeetors eat 'em. They replied that they didn't notice any mosquito problem. I said no, they're all eaten up in spring by the gnats.... The moral; bring bug spray, my critters are hungry .
Please RSVP to srmatt@comcast.net if you are coming.
