As required, a preliminary round will occur the weekend prior, depending on number of entries and available judges. It is expected that judging will occur in three flights, with Best of Show on Friday evening or Saturday morning prior to the BrewFest.

Let Mike or Vince know if interested in judging the competition. All of our BJCP Study Group Judge Apprentices and current judges are highly encouraged to participate. Please see Mike for a Judge Information Form at the next meeting or contact him (843-540-9022).

Out of Town Judges: We need you too! Please contact Mike (843-540-9022) to receive a Judge Information Form.

It is expected that the competition will take place over sessions on Thursday evening and Friday. Judges & stewards should arrive no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thurs, 8:30 a.m. on Friday. All entries must be turned in by the registration deadline. No day-of entries accepted.

BOS round will occur after category rounds are completed and is planned to take place either Friday evening or Saturday morning.

After the Competition:

Preliminary results should be up within 7 days after the competition. Evaluation forms will be scanned and uploaded to the registration website within 2 weeks after the competition. You will receive an email when they are ready for download and so that you can print your scoresheets at home. If you would like to receive a hard copy of your results, please contact Steve.

Two (2) bottles per entry. All bottles shall be standard brown or green glass with no raised lettering (yes, Sam Adams bottles are ok), 10-16 oz (12 oz. “standard” recommended). Plastic and flip-top style bottles are not allowed. Black out caps with lettering.

Include an Entry Form with your package.

Fill out bottle labels in the on-line entry system and attach to each bottle with rubber band (no tape).

The Summer Suds in Savannah homebrew competition is the NEW annual homebrew competition for the Savannah Brewers League (the Bay Street Bash is now merged). This event will be concurrent with the Savannah Craft Brew Fest with many combined events for entrants and judges alike. So enter your beers, come down to judge, and also enjoy the best of the Brewfest.

The 2011 Summer Suds in Savannah homebrew competition is a BJCP sanctioned competition open to all homebrewers. No professional or commercial entries are accepted. This year, all beer & cider categories will be accepted. Our annual Domras Cup Mead-only Competition continues as a separate competition in Jan/Feb.

Categories & Subcategories may be combined for judging, at the competition organizer’s discretion. Beers will be judged according to the subcategories in which they were submitted using the 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines.

Ribbons shall be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd category winners as well as prizes. A Best of Show Round will also take place with bigger ribbons and bigger prizes. The BOS winner will be guest-brewed at Moon River Brewing Company.

This year, there will be a special Category 29 beer termed the “Low Country Ale/Lager”. Entrants shall provide the recipe and a written explanation why their entry is the essence of the Low Country (in 200 words or less). BIG prizes for this beer as well.
