Committee Discussion

There will be live music, food trucks in the evening, and the Anniversary IPA will be on tap. ALso coming on tap soon is the peach wheat sour. Treasurer’s Report

Gene was not present so no report was given.

Barrel Committee

  • Barrel 1 – The club will make a Duchesse for this barrel. Gene found a clone recipe and John E. will send it out once it is finalized. It will be very specific so that we can caputure the style accurately. Participants should bring an already-fermended product to put into the barrel.
  • Barrel 2 – Lambic – This went into the barrel in February. John E. brought a sample to try tonight. He mentioned that it might be a bit watery without much character.

Merch

  • Bridge Run Shirts – The shirts were ordered and will be printed this week. John E. will bring them to the November Stammtisch for anyone who plans on attending. People can also pick them up at the print shop once they are completed. John E. will make a FaceBook post with the details once they are ready.

Competitions

  • O Dark 30 – November 17, the website is open for entries now
  • Domras Cup – February 1, 2025, the website will be open for entries on November 15
  • Competitor of the Year – Sonja usually calculates this. There is a spreadsheet that members can fill out and submit for calculation. Kristen created a form at the beginning of the year and will discuss with Sonja whether we will use that or not. More details will be posted.
  • Brewer of the Year – Members were reminded to use the Form that is pinned to the top of the Members-only FaceBook page to enter their brew days and BUs. The form feeds into a spreadsheet on the Google Drive that will be used to determine the brewer of the year.

Old Business

Website

Meredith still needs to contact the web design person from the Chatham Sailing Club. If anyone else has any suggestions they can let Meredith and Kristen know. Vince mentioned his photo website and will talk to Scott about it.

BJCP Cider Judging

Last month the club assessed fruited ciders. The next class will be on November 15 at Rick M.’s house. The style will be Perry. He will post an event on FB.

Upcoming Stammtisch

  • November – Vince, in conjunction with the 0 Dark 30 competition, 17 NOV – Beer judging will start around 1300 and the Stammtisch will ensue afterwards.
  • December – John W., 15 DEC at 1800
  • Jaunary – TeeJay?

Tech Talk

Vince brought up the idea of rewarding judges who participate in club-only competitions. Ideally, there should be 12 judges present for the number of beers that we get. No experience is necessary to be a judge so anyone can do it.

Chris S. found another box of SBL historical documents including Newsletter #2. If someone has a scanner, it would be great to scan the documents and post some on FB. He left the box for us to keep.

Chandler took some time to thank everyone who participated in B4, whether that was volunteering or buying tickets to attend. There was slightly lower attendance this year but everyone had a great time. He wants everyone to keep this event in mind for next year as well since they are always in need of volunteers (and he prefers SBL members). Volunteers get to try beers, wine, bourbon and other spirits, and the BBQ is great.

Members were asked to think about what they would like to have happen for the club in 2025. Please provide feedback, bad or good, so that we can continue to grow and improve.

We closed the meeting with a raffle featuring prizes courtesy of John E.
