Old Business
Domras Cup
The club made $1,188 from the beauty pageant and raffle. Chandler proposed to send $200 to the Boy Scout troop who donated tables and chairs. Chris M. seconded the motion and it passed.
BJCP Cider Judging
No class has been scheduled yet. After finishing up the last few styles, we will move to the class portion to learn about processes.
Website
Kristen met with Chris Watkins to discuss what would need to happen to take over the website maintenance. The club can get a Dream Host account and everything can be migrated. Kristen can update and maintain the website as necessary. They have a special running currently and Kristen will find out if we would be locked into an entire year or if it would be month to month.
Upcoming Stammtisch
- March – St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah
- April – Gerry and Kyle will host in conjunction with Quarter Quell
Tech Talk
Chris M. talked about mead. Members were encouraged to maek mead now for next year’s competition. He noted that a liquor sweetened with honey is NOT a mead. It can be entered into the Uber Open but not Domras Cup. A mead needs to have fermented honey. Refer to BJCP guidelines for specific information. Mead can be hydromel, standard, or sack strength. A fortified beverage was entered in the Experimental category at Domras Cup that is not actual mead. It did win a medal. However, going forward, entries will be scrutinized more to eliminate anything that does not fall within the guidelines for mead.
Members discussed having the president name an executive committee. It has historically included past presidents or other officers. The purpose is to discuss important topics outside of regular meetings and help with decision-making. We also discussed storing a bookshelf at Coastal Empire to house SBL stuff since that will be our regular meeting place now.
